Maserati Cars
Maserati was started in Bologna in 1914 by the 5 Maserati brothers, and they built race cars until 1926. Alfieri Maserati won the Targa Florio in 1926, and Mario Maserati is attributed with designing the Trident badge from the Neptune fountain in Bologna. In 1937 the Maserati brothers sold out to the Orsi family who moved the company to Modena, but the Maserati brothers continued to engineer the cars until they went off to set up O.S.C.A. in 1957. Citroën bought control from the Orsi family in 1968, but following the collapse of Citroën and its take over by Peugeot, Maserati fell under the control of Alessandro de Tomaso in 1975. Fiat took over in 1993 and it has benefitted from Ferrari technology ever since.
