Pietro Frua began his career with Stabilimenti Farina, and there met Giovanni Michelotti. Frua's own business started with a bombed out factory in 1944 for designing and building cars. In 1957 he sold out to Carrozzeria Ghia and was retained as head of design. However Pietro Frua diagreed with the head of Ghia and left to set up his own business. For 2years Frua worked with the Swiss subsidiary of Ghia, and until 1964 with Carrozzeria Viotti in Turin. At the same time Frua was working with Italsuisse, and Stabilimento Giuseppe Savio, before setting up Studio Technico Pietro Frua until his death in 1983.
