Carrozzeria Bertone
Carrozzeria Bertone was founded by Giovanni Bertone in 1912, and he got contracts to build car bodies on Fiats and other Italian cars in the 1920s. He was friends with Vincenzo Lancia and built Lancia bodies. By 1934 his son Nuccio Bertone had designed a body for the Fiat 527S which was streamlined and praised. During the 1940s and 1950s Bertone built bodies for Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat, Lancia, and then in the 1960s was awarded coontracts from Lamborghini. In the 1970s Bertone took contracts from Volkswagen and then Citroen. Both Marcello Gandini and Giorgetto Giugiaro worked for Bertone and learned their craft under Nuccio Bertone.
