Jaguar XJ 1968-92
The Jaguar XJ series was the final car design under the supervision of Sir William Lyons, and it was launched a little late to the world in 1968 replacing all Jaguar's saloons. At launch it was offered with 4235cc six cylinder XK engine and also a new 2790cc version of the XK engine for taxation purposes in certain markets. In 1969 the Daimler Sovereign was withdrawn and a new Sovereign was introduced in 2.8 or 4.2 litre versions based on the Jaguar XJ6 with Daimler badging and extra trim. In 1972 the long awaited 5.3litre V12 engine was given to the XJ to create the Jaguar XJ12 and the Daimler Double-Six.
