Daimler Sovereign (XJ)
Jaguar launched its XJ6 range of cars with 2.4 and 4.2litre 6-cylinder engines in 1968 and the following year a Daimler badged version was offered with the name 'Sovereign'. The V12-engined Jaguar XJ car was announced in 1972 and the more luxurious Daimler version was given the name 'Double-Six'. In 1972 a long wheelbase body was available, but when the Series II was announced in 1973 the long wheelbase was default. In 1979 the Series III car was launched with completely revised body by Pininfarina and this continued until 1992. Both Sovereigns and Double-Six cars were available as a Vanden Plas version with greater luxury.
