Jaguar XJC
The Jaguar XJ series had been launched in 1968 as the Jaguar XJ6, and in 1969 as the Daimler Sovereign. In 1972 V12-engined models were launched as the Jaguar XJ12 and the Daimler Double-Six. At the 1973 London Motor Show Jaguar exhibited a 2-door coupe, which was to become the XJC from 1975-78. The 1973 Series II XJ range had standardised the use of the long wheelbase body, but the XJC retained the shorter body. XJ Coupes could be ordered as XJ 4.2 or 5.3 and also as Daimler Sovereign or Daimler Double-Six. Approximately 8500 4.2 Jaguar and Daimler Coupes were built and about 2000 V12 Coupes. Production ceased in 1978 and a coupe version was not offered for the XJ Series III.
