Jaguar MkX 3.8litre. At 1.94metres, the Mk X Jaguar was the widest Jaguar made (only beaten by the 2m Jaguar XJ220 in 1992.

Jaguar Mk X was launched as the biggest, and probably Britain's widest, car in 1961. The E-type 3.8 litre engine was fitted under the bonnet and independent rear suspension helped this large car handle.

The Jaguar Mk X had a unitary bodyshell replacing the Mk VII - IX model which had separate chassis. The 3.8litre Mk X was produced from 1961 to 1964 and 10,000 rolled out the factory before the 4.2litre version replaced it.

In 1966 the Jaguar Mk X was renamed the Jaguar 420G. With some revisions and its new name the biggest Jaguar continued in production until 1970.

The Jaguar 420G was a renamed Mk X 4.2 and could only be distinguished by an additional waist moulding and new badges. Sometimes sold as a Limousine with glass division, the 420G chassis continued as the basis o0f the Daimler Limousine until 1992.

Jaguar 420G. Just as the Jaguar MkVII had been launched as a luxury car with a sportscar engine (XK120), the MkX was launched in 1961 with the E-type engine. The 420G was an updated version of the MkX announced in 1966.
