 Daimler V8 250. The original
Daimler Sovereign was the second 'Jag-Daimler', being essentialy a rebadged Jaguar 420. Both cars were given 4235cc engines and independent rear suspension, the Daimler being more luxurious. In 1969 production ceased.
Daimler Sovereign inherited the same independent rear suspension from the E-type as did its cousin the Jaguar 420 and its predecessor the Jaguar S-type.
Daimler V8 2.5litre. Jaguar took over the Daimler company in 1960 and in 1962 mated the 2548cc V8 engine from the Daimler SP250 Sports with the Jaguar MkII body to produce the V8 2.5litre.
Daimler V8 250, the V8 engine had come when Jaguar acquired Daimler in 1960, and a decision was taken to build an upmarket version of the Mk2 2.4 using this V8 engine

Daimler Sovereign was the Daimler-badged version of the Jaguar 420, itself an evolution of the Jaguar S-type out of Jaguar MkII. The Sovereign (and 420) both got 4235cc engine from the larger MkX (now renamed '420G') and also got a bonnet similar to the larger car.
