Daimler DS420 Limousine
Daimler's magnificent DR450 Limousine based on the v8 Majestic Major ran on until 1968 when Jaguar canned it and brought the replacement Daimler DS420. However, the only Daimler parts on the new DS420 were the badges and trimmings, and underneath lay the chassis and mechancis of the 4.2litre Jaguar 420G. Production continued until 1992, still using the Jaguar XK engine which had long gone from the rest of the Jaguar range. Over 4100 Daimler DS420 Limousines were built at the Carbodies plant in Coventry.

Daimler DS420 Limousine. Behind the Daimler grille lay a Jaguar 4235cc 6-cylinder dohc XK engine of 245bhp which was good for 110mph. Many have lamented that Jaguar did not use the Edward Turner 4.5litre V8 which was a better engine.
