Vauxhall Victor FA, FB, FC, FD, FE
The name 'Victor' was first givern to the replacement for the Wyvern in 1957. Vauxhall took the 4-cylinder Wyvern engine into a new range of cars underneath the Cresta/Velox models, and launched the Victor FA in 1957 with controversial styling and even more controversial rust qualities. In 1962 David Jones responded to criticism of the American features used on the FA Victor and a much more conservative Victor FB was launched. The third generation Victor FC was launched in 1964 with a brand new body and known as the 'Victor 101'. This continued in production for three years until the 'coke bottle' style Victor FD went into production with new slant four engine in 1967. The final Victor, the FE, was dubbed the 'Transcontinental' but was little more than the same old recipe in a new bottle and it was in production from 1972 to 1977 when the 'Victor' name died.
