Vauxhall E-series Wyvern, Velox and Cresta 1951-56

Replacing the L-series, the E-series gained a new body with American influenced styling launched in 1951 for the 1952 model year. The EIP series was launched as the 1442cc Wyvern and the 2275cc Velox, but a new 4-cylinder 1507cc engine was given to the Wyvern in 1952 and a new 6-cylinder 2262cc unit to the Velox at the same time. For 1955 new grilles are given to the big Vauxhalls and rear spats for the Cresta and Velox. The EIP Cresta was new for late 1954, introduced as a kitted out upmarket version of the Velox set against Ford's Zephyr Zodiac. The biggest change came in 1956 when body revisions included new larger front and rear screens and thinner pillars and grilles again were altered. Model codes changed to EIX for Wyvern, EIP for Velox and EIPC for Cresta. For the final year, 1957, new horizontal grilles were given to all models and larger tail lights with red and amber lenses. This was the final year for the 'Wyvern' name as this car was replaced by the new FA body Victor in 1958, whilst the Velox and Cresta were succeeded by the PA models.

Vauxhall EIX Wyvern 1954. On Launch in 1951 the EIX Wyvern retained the 1442cc 4-cylinder engine from the LIX Wyvern. Essentially a 6-cylinder version of the EIPX Wyvern, the Velox gained an entirely new 2262cc ohv engine in 1952	Vauxhall EIX Wyvern 1954. The E-series Wyvern was launched in 1951, a 4-cylinder version of the Velox. Given a 1442cc engine at launch, a new 1507cc engine was available from 1952.	Vauxhall Velox EIPV 1956. Replacing the LIP Velox, the EIP gained a new body with American influenced styling launched in 1951. In 1954 a new full width grille was given to the Velox as well as a 2262cc engine Full width styling with curved front and rear screens, push button door handles, bench seats, and column change three speed box. Longer wheel base and wider track together with coil spring ifs, give much improved ride and handling.
Vauxhall Wyvern EIX 1956. From 1955 the E-series Vauhalls were revised with bigger rear windows and new grilles.	Vauxhall Cresta EIPC 1956. The Cresta first appeared in 1954 as a better equipped and more trimmed Velox. In 1955 new grilles were given and rear wheel spats	Vauxhall Cresta EIPC 1957. The final version of the EIPC, with contrasting side flash instead of two tone colours, and new grille	Vauxhall Wyvern EIX 1956. Larger front screen and thinner pillars for the 1956 revamp. The Wyvern was given a painted grille surround rather than chrome of the Velox and Cresta. 1956 models had thicker grille bars than 1955.	Vauxhall Cresta EIP 1955.	Vauxhall EIPV Velox. Introduced in 1951 the EIP used the same styles as were being given to the 1950 Chevrolets, possibly designed by Carl Renner (under Harley Earl).
