Vauxhall L-Series Wyvern and Velox 1948-51
The LIX Wyvern (and LIP 6-cylinder Velox) were introduced in 1948. The Wyvern inherited the 1442cc 4-cylinder engine from the Prewar 12. David Jones restyled the Twelve body for the L-series at minimal cost, giving a new front and rear to make it resemble the Chevrolet Fleetline. The same body was also used for the L-type Velox which had to squeeze a 6-cylinder engine into the same bonnet. 55,000 Wyverns (and 76,000 Velox) were made before the new E-series took over in 1951.
