Lanchester Eighteen (E18) and 15/18
Lanchester fell onto hard times and in 1931 was taken over by the B.S.A. Group which already owned Daimler, and which had shared independently its factory site at Sparkbrook from 1906. One of the benefits of the Lanchester acquisition was the new overhead valve 2504cc six cylinder engine which would also power the similar sized Daimler Light Fifteen. George Lanchester was involved in the design of the 15/18, subsequent Lanchesters became badge-engineered Daimlers. A Lanchester 15/18 won the first ever RAC Rally in 1932. There was a 2390cc Lanchester Eighteen from 1934 and 2565cc Eighteen from 1935-39, both also marketed as Daimler Light Twenty. A variety of coachwork was offered on the chassis, with Mulliners providing some standard saloons, although the B.S.A. had restarted its own body section at this time.

Lanchester 15/18 1933 Mulliners saloon. When the B.S.A. Group purchased Lanchester it inherited the George Lanchester developed inline six 2504cc engine with overhead poppet valves in contrast to the Knight Sleeve valves traditionally used by Daimler. This engine went on to power similar Daimlers whilst a 4-cylinder version powered smaller Lanchester and B.S.A. models.
