Hillman Minx Mark III to VIII 1948-56
Raymond Loewy updates the dull postwar Minx to give it modern looks. The 'Mark Minx' started in 1945 when the prewar Minx was offered as 'Mark I' until 1947 and 'Mark II' until 1948, but looked the same as the 1930s models. In 1948 the 'Mark III' was launched with its '3-box' (Ponton) body on otherwise unchanged mechanics. The Loewy-designed body was available as 4-door saloon, 2-door convertible and later 2-door 'California' coupe, and also estate car. 'Mark IV' versions from 1949 uprated the 1185cc engine to 1265cc. In 1954 the Mark VIII received a new 1390cc engine that would eventually be upgraded to 1725cc through the 'Audax' Minxes

The Minx Phase VIII introduced 15inch wheels, revised suspension and the usual trim changes. In 1956 a de luxe version, the Phase VIIIA, also joined the range featuring extra chrome and two-tone paintwork.
