Chrysler 'Forward Look'
Chrysler President K.T. Keller dictated a safe '3-box' style for the new 1949 Chrysler models. Sales suffered as a consequence and Chrysler went out and recruited Virgil Exner from Studebaker to give Chrysler a new style. Exner's original brief was at first only on advanced designs which were not productionised. Falling sales of dull-looking cars worried the new CEO Tex Colbert who urged Exner to give the new 1955 Chryslers some style. That was achieved with the 'Forward Look' and then with the 1957 winged bodies advertised as 'Suddenly it's 1960'.
