Triumph TR6
The TR6 was the final version of the 'Hairy Chested TR'. In 1969 the Michelotti-styled TR4/TR5 was given to Karmann of Osnabruck to be restyled. Keeping the centre section and the doors and windscreen, Karmann gave the car a new nose and a roomier squared off boot, but underneath the separate TR4 chassis was largely unchanged. Mechanically, the TR6 carried over the TR5 engines, and the USA market was given a Stromberg carb 104bhp version of the 2498cc 6-cylinder engine and a solid rear axle. European markets had independent rear suspension and fuel-injection initially to 150bhp, but from 1973-1976 emmissions legislation emasculated the engine down to 125bhp. 94,000 TR6s were sold, mostly on the North American markets
