Societe des Vehicules Andre Morin (SOVAM))
Societe des Vehicules Andre Morin (SOVAM). In the mid 1960s Morin decided to diversify from his commercial vehicle bodywork and airport equipment and use his fibreglass skills to create a sports car. The Sovam 1100 used a shortened platform from a Renault 4 together with its mechanics, Body was designed by Jacques Durand. Early cars had an 845cc engine when launched in 1964, but the 1,108cc engine was given to the 1966 1100VS model. A Gordini tuned 1,255cc engine was given to the 1300GS model in 1967 but it was expensive and only 6 were sold. Sovam production ended in 1968 after 150 cars had been produced.

Click here to go to an album about Clan Crusader. Clan commenced operations when by Paul Haussauer and some other engineers left Lotus and designed the Crusader car. John Frayling designed the body, and the car was available either fully built as a kit. Power came from a rear-mounted Hillman Imp engine. Production started with government loans in Washington (County Durham), and 315 were built until 1973. A Cypriot businessman bought the Clan moulds but doesn't seem to have made any cars. In 1982 some body moulds turned up in Northern Ireland, and a revised Clan with pop-up headlamps was produced, 130 being sold. In 1985 the Ulster company developed the Clan Clover, revising the body and fitting an Alfasud engine. By 1987 Clan were defunct.
