Riley RMA, RMB, RMC, RMD, RME and RMF
The last unique Riley Cars before the badge-engineered BMC Rileys.Riley had been absorbed into the Nuffield Organisation in 1937, and the 12/4 and 16/4 of that time formed the foundation of the post-war Riley RM models. The RMA was launched first in 1945 with the 1496cc 4-cylinder engine from the 12/4 in a fairly traditional design but with independent front suspension. The RMB was launched early in 1946 as a longer car with the 2443cc twin cam engine from the 16/4. In 1948 the RMC was announced as a special-bodied 3-seater convertible based on the 2½litre RMB with cutaway doors. It was supposed to appeal to the American market but sold only 500 copies and was withdrawn in 1951. At the same the RMD 4/5-seater drophead coupe was launched mainly for the home market, but sold no better than the RMC and was also dropped in 1951 after just 500 copies. In 1952 the surviving RM models were updated with larger rear windows and different axle ratios to be sold as the 1½litre Riley RME and the 2½litre Riley RMF. The RMF was the first to cease production as the 2½litre car gave way to Gerald Palmer's Riley RMH Pathfinder in 1953. The RME clung on a further 2 years, losing its running boards in 1954, and then being superceded by the Wolseley 1500/Riley One-Point-Five cars in 1955.
Donald Healey used the Riley 2443cc engine in his own chassis to create his own Healey cars from 1947 to 1952

ac_Riley head RMC
Riley RMC. Based on the 2.5litre RMB, the RMC was produced 1948-51 intended for export to North America
ac_Riley head RMD
Riley RMD. Like the Riley RMB on which it was based, the Riley RMD carried the 2½-litre twin cam 4-cylinder engine from the pre-war Riley 16/4.
ac_Riley head RME 1954
Riley RME. In 1954 the RME 1½-litre was updated, the RMF being dropped at this time. The front was modernised with integral front fog lights set into the front panel and at the side it lost the running boards.

Riley front RMA
Riley RMA. The RMA launched the Riley RM series in 1945 and carried the 1496cc overhead cam engine from the Riley 12/4.
Riley front RMB
Riley RMB. In 1946 the Riley RMB was launched being a slightly longer RMA with a 2443cc four cylinder engine. This engine had the same twin camshafts of the smaller 1496cc RMA engine, and produced 90bhp on launch and 100bhp from 1948.
Riley front RMCr
Riley RMC. The RMC had a fold-down windscreen, but wasn't really sporty enough to justify it.
Riley front RMCw
Riley RMC. Riley hoped the 'sporty' styling of the RMC would attract American buyers, but they saw the Jaguar XK120 as much more sexy.
Riley front RMDa
Riley RMD. The RMD was a drophead coupe version of the 2.5litre Riley RMB built as a traditional wood-framed body on a chassis. Built for export, only 500 were made between 1949 and 1951.
Riley front RMDb
Riley RMD Drophead. Based on a 2½litre RM, the drophead was sold from 1949 but dropped in 1951 after poor sales
Riley front RME 1952
Riley RME. In 1952 the Riley RMA was updated to become the RME produced until 1955. The 1496cc 4cylinder engine was unchanged, but a larger rear window was given to the 4door saloon.
Riley front RME 1954
Riley RME 1954. BMC were planning to replace the Riley RM with a badge-engineered version of the Wolseley 4/44, but this was shelved and a bucket of chrome thrown onto the Riley RM to keep it plodding on.
Riley front RMFg
Riley RMF. In 1952 the Riley RMF was launched being a slightly longer RME with a 2443cc four cylinder engine.
Riley front RMFr

Riley rear RMCw
Riley RMC. Based on the 2.5litre RMB, the RMC had a strange 3-seater 'sporty' body that was intended to appeal to Americans; but it didn't.
Riley rear RMD
Riley RMD. This drophead coupe was a conservative design that was thought to appeal to the home market, but the the Jaguar XK120 launched the same year the days of 'traditional' sports cars were now over.

Riley RME. Launched in 1952, the RME was an update of the 1½litre RMA with a few mechanical changes and most visibly an enlarged rear window.
