Lamborghini Islero

'Islero' was the name of a Spanish fighting bull in 1947. This bull supposedly had bad eyesight, but it managed to gore bullfighter Manolete in the groin with his right hand horn and the fighter bled to death. Lamborghini's Islero was launched at the 1968 Geneva Salon and featured a body designed by Federico Formenti and built by Carrozzeria Marazzi (created out of bankrupt Carrozzeria Touring). Mechanically the Islero evolved from Lamborghini 400 GT and was powered by the 3929cc V12 engine which had been designed by Giotto Bizzarrini and then retuned by Dallara and Stanzani. In 1969 the Islero S was announced with revised styling, brakes, suspension, and engine. After 225 Isleros the Jarama took over.

Looking a little staid compared to the extraordinary Miura and the soon to be shown Espada, the Islero was Ferruccio Lamborghini's idea of the perfect Grand Touring car. The Bizzarrini 3929cc V12 engine sat under its bonnet, and was given a larger scoop on this 1969 Islero S 350 bhp.	Lamborghini Islero S. Replacing the Touring-designed 400GT, the Islero continued that tradition of front-engined grand tourers, and was equipped with the 3929cc V12 engine from the much more radical Miura. This Islero S has fixed quarter lights	Lamborghini Islero S. Built by Carrozzeria Marazzi, 125 Isleros were built, and a further 100 Islero S during 1969 before being replaced by the Lamborghini Jarama.
Lamborghini Islero S. Federico Formenti, former designer for Carrozzeria Touring, designed the Islero to replace the 400GT to instructions from Ferruccio Lamborghini. The bodies were built by Carrozzeria Marazzi who took on many of the staff from the defunct Carrozzeria Touring	Lamborghini Jarama	Lamborghini 400 GT Monza	Lamborghini 350 and 400 GT
