Ford Anglia
The first Anglia was launched in 1939 as a development of the Ford 7Y 8hp (1937-39). Given the identifier 'E04A' the pre-war cars had running boards which were deleted on postwar cars. The 933cc 8hp sidevalve engine from 7Y continued except for export markets that got the 1172cc unit. This was replaced in 1948 by the E494A Anglia which still used essentially the same body as the E04A Ford Anglia and gained the 1172cc sidevalve engine. The first modern Anglia was the 100E produced from 1953 to 1959 with a low slung 4-door body and the same 1172cc engine. In 1959 the radically styled Anglia 105E was launched, the most famous and sadly the last of all the Ford Anglias.
