Tom Tjaarda started work with Ghia in 1959 and with Sergio Sartorelli he produced the Ghia Selene concept car in 1959, and together they designed the VW Karmann-Ghia Type 34 in 1960. Tjaarda worked for Pininfarina from 1962, producing 2 Chevrolet design concepts (Corvair and Corvette) as well as specials for Fiat and Lancia.
