Citroen AU, AZU, AKS (2CV Vans)
The Fourgonette (Commercial) version of the Citroen 2CV was announced in 1951 and given the codename 'AU'. A lowly 375cc engine was fitted giving a top speed of just 27mph, but the AU could carry 0.25 tonnes. The Van acquired the 425cc engine in 1955 and was codenamed 'AZU', this engine was rated at 12 hp and was uprated to 18 hp in 1963, and to 21 hp by 1968. From 1955 to 1969 the AZU van was manufactured at the Panhard plant at Porte d'Ivry in Paris. The AZU was updated in 1961 with a non-corrugated bonnet, and new grille already given to the 2CV AZ. The panels lost their corrugations in 1964 to make it easier for sign writers. Also in 1964 the longer AK350 (350kg payload) was launched having the 602cc 22 bhp engine from Ami 6, and a newer 602cc 33 bhp engine was given in 1969. The AK350 is replaced in 1970 with the AKS400 which has a higher roofline and a 400kg payload. The AZU engine is changed in 1973 for a 435cc unit, and all 2CV models get rectangular headlamps in 1974. All 2CV vans were replaced in 1978 by the Dyane-based Citroen Acadiane Van.
