MG Metro, Metro turbo
The MG Metro re-introduced the MG brand after an hiatus when MGB production stopped. In fact the 'hot hatch' MG Metro 1300 introduced in 1982 outperformed the MGB even though enthusiasts didn't regard it as a sports car. British Leyland did more than just stick Octagon badges onto the Metro, and it had a 1275cc 72bhp engine with servo brakes and alloy wheels. Facelifted in 1984 and again in 1989 when large decals were applied to the sides of the car. In 1983 the MG Metro Turbo was introduced with Garett T3 Turbocharger and a higher specification of components within the engine near to race quality. The Metro Turbo was replaced by the Rover Metro GTa and GTI in 1990.

In its day, the luxury of the Metro Vanden Plas took the form of radio-cassette player, electric front windows, improved instrument panel to include tachometer and a variety of optional extras such as trip computer, remote boot release, front fog lamps etc.
