Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600
Alfa Romeo upgraded the Tipo 750 Giulietta models to the Tipo 101 in 1959, which included a longer wheelbase for the Spider, new grilles for the Berlina and the Sprint Veloce, and a new engine block. In 1962 the Spider, Sprint Veloce, and Sprint Speciale were given the 1,570cc Giulia engine and re-badged 'Giulia 1600' as a stop gap until Tipo 105 versions could be developed.

Alfa Romeo Giulia SS. The Giulia SS ('Sprint Speciale') started life as the Giulietta SS at the Salon di Torino 1957. Franco Scaglione designed the SS for Bertone as an evolution from his BAT 5, BAT 7 and BAT 9 aerodynamic studies.

Pininfarina designed this Spider when Bertone's deaign was rejected. In 1959 the wheelbase of the Spider was lengthened by 2inches. In 1962 a new 1570cc engine was given and all Giuliettas were christened 'Giulia'.
