Volkswagen Type 4 411 and 412
The VW Type 4 was launched in 1968 in 4-door saloon and Variant Estate model. In 1972 the 411 was revised as the 412.The 411 was Volkswagen's first 4-door car, but the Variant Estate car reverted to 3 doors. In 1974 VW's last air-cooled design was withdrawn after just 300,000 sales.

Volkswagen 412 LE Variant. The VW Type 4 was launched in 1968 in 4-door saloon and Variant Estate model. In 1972 the 411 was revised as the 412.

Volkswagen 412 LE Variant rear
Volkswagen 412 LE Variant. A new air-colled 4cylinder 1679cc engine was created for the Type 4, and later used in the T2 Transporter. Bosch Fuel injection was optional from 1969, and the engine was enlarged to 1795cc in 1973

Volkswagen 412 Variant. From 1973 the Type 4 lost the Fuel-injected engine in favour of a 1795cc Twin Solex Unit
