Vanden Plas
Guillaume van den Plas established Carrosserie Van den Plas in Belgium in 1898 and set up an English branch in 1913. In 1923 Edwin Fox and his brothers bought out Vanden Plas (England) Ltd which they already managed. Many fine motorcars carried elegant Vanden Plas coachwork, including Bentley and Alvis. However, in 1946 Vanden Plas failed to secure a contract with Rolls-Royce and were gathered up by Leonard Lord to help him create a luxurious Austin; the A125 Sheerline. Coachbuilding ended for Vanden-Plas after the merging into Austin.
