Fuego
Based on the Renault R18, the Fuego wore a body designed by Michel Jardin, working under Robert Opron. From 1980-82 the Fuego was best selling sport coupe. It took over from the Renault 15/17 which had been based on Renault 12 mechanics. Engines offered were 1397cc, 1647cc, 1995cc and a 2.1-diesel. 265,000 were sold from 1980 to 1995, although European production had ended in 1986.
