Mercedes-Benz 600 (W100)
The Mercedes-Benz W100 was launched at the 1963 Frankfurt International Auto Show as the '600' with a new 6.3-litre V8 engine. As well as powering the car, this engine gave hydraulic power to doors, windows, brakes and suspension. The 600 was offered in 4-door and longer 6-door versions, and in 1965 a Pullman Landaulet version was made for the Pope. The 'Grosser' Mercedes-Benz project started in 1955 with an unlimited budget to created the best car they could. Production ended in 1981 after 2677 were sold, 428 being longer cars and 59 being Landaulets. The distinctive body was designed by Bruno Sacco and Paul Bracq .
