Ford Galaxie
In 1959 'Galaxie' was given to upmarket versions of the Ford Fairlane, but in 1960 it was created as a new model. In 1965 a new design of Galaxie was launched with vertically stacked headlamps, and coil springs for the front suspension. The range was topped by the Galaxie 500 LTD, but in 1966 the Galaxie 500 7-litre was launched and in 1967 the '7-litre' branding dropped and 7-litre engine became an option on the Galaxie 500 XL, the XL model was available as a 2-door hardtop or convertible. For 1968 the Galaxie was given a new front with horizontal headlamps, and the XL and LTD models gained concealed headlamps
