Ford Custom 1958
Ford first used the 'Custom' badge to distinguish its highest trim level in the 1949 model year, but Ford gradually downgraded the 'Customline' and in 1957 it was the entry level model as 'Custom' or 'Custom 300'. For 1958 a massive new grille and quad lamps facelifted that years Fords, with quad rear lamps at the back. It was Ford's biggest seller with around 500,000 sold in 1957 and 330,000 in 1958 (a recession year for all auto makers). Sales were back to half a million for 1959, but by then the 118-inch Fairlane and Galaxie were outselling the 116-inch Custom.
