Ford Consul Classic Capri Coupe

The Ford Consul Classic started to be designed in 1956. A Coupe called the 'Classic Capri' was launched in late 1961, being the fruit of Ford's 'Sunbird' project and designed by Charles Thompson with elements of the Galaxie Sunliner and Thunderbird. The Capri was underpowered, and even the Cosworth developed 1498cc engine couldn't rescue sales and it died in 1963 along with the entire Ford Classic range.

Ford Consul Capri - bonnet badge	Ford Consul Classic Capri GT. 1,700 Capri GT versions were sold before Ford Classic production ended in 1964	Ford Consul Classic Capri Convertible. This Capri Coupe left Dagenham with its roof on and and was only opened up in the last few years. A 'what might have been' car	Ford Consul Classic Capri Coupe, a chic version of Ford's rather quirky 'Classic' which quickly got replaced by the much cheaper-to-build Cortina and Corsair ranges	Ford Consul Classic Capri Convertible. A non-standard convertible Capri, but quite elegant	Ford Consul Classic Capri GT. The GT version of the Ford Consul Classic Capri Coupe GT was introduced in 1963. It had a Keith Duckworth-tuned version of the Cortina 1498cc GT engine. All Capris ended production in 1964.
