Carrozzeria Fantuzzi
Medardo and Gino Fantuzzi founded Carrozzeria Fantuzzi in Modena, and during the 1950s built bodies for the Maserati Sports racing cars. Fantuzzi built some one off cars, and supplied the body for Ferrari's Dino 246 F1 car. Some cars were built by Fantuzzi to the design of Pininfarina or others. His company still exists but concentrates on body restoration.
Ferrari 246 F1
Ferrari 246 F1. Built to contest the 1958 Formula One Championship, the 246 F1 had a front-mounted 2417cc Dino V6 engine (later to be developed into a road engine). The 246 was the first V6 car to win a GP, and it also won the drivers championship in 1958 for Mike Hawthorn. In 1960 a modified version of the Dino engine was mid-mounted into the 246P GP car.
Ferrari 250 1959 Testa Rossa
Ferrari 250 1959 Testa Rossa. Developed out of the 500 TRC, the Testa Rossa was given the 3-litre Colombo V12 out of the Ferrari 250 to comply with new 3-litre FIA regulations for 1958. For 1959 Pininfarina redesigned the Testa Rossa with a fully enclosed body built by Medardo Fantuzzi.
Ferrari 250 GT Lusso 1963
Ferrari 250 GT Lusso 1963. This 250 Lusso was originally supplied to the owner of Techno who produced Formula 2 and Formula 3 racing cars in Bologna. Medardo Fantuzzi made the bodies for these F2 and F3 cars, so Techno boss Luciano Pederzani asked him to modify his Lusso with a new nose. By 1968 the car had passed through many owners and turned up in New York having acquired the triple GTO vents in the bonnets and rear wheel arch.
Maserati 150S Barchetta
Maserati 150S Barchetta Mille Miglia 1956 Factory Car. Replacing the A6 GCS, the 150S was launched in 1955 by Vittorio Bellentani with a new 4-cylinder 1481cc twin cam engine by Giulio Alfieri.
Maserati 250S 1956
Maserati 250S 1956. Maserati built only a small number of the 250S as a bridge model between the 150S and the 300S. It was conceived for the new Le Mans 2½-litre specification, and given a 2594cc version of the 6-cylinder dohc engine. However, some 200S cars were upgraded to 250S with this engine. The body is by Medardo Fantuzzi.
Maserati 300S 1956
Maserati 300S 1956. Using a 2991cc 6-cylinder engine derived from the Maserati 250F engine, the dohc, twin spark unit yielded 260bhp and was designed for reliability on the longer sports car races. Medardo Fantuzzi designed the body for 1955 and a longer nose one from 1956.
