Lomas, Handforth

Herbert Lomas Ambulances Ltd were registered in Manchester in 1913, although it seems that Herbert Lomas had been a wheelwright from 1901. The company specialised in coachbuilding Ambulance bodies on a number of chassis until 1981.

Coachwork

Austin Sheerline 1956 Lomas Ambulance. The Austin Sheerline and Princess could be supplied as a chassis cab for the fitting of bespoke coachwork. Although Limousines and Hearses were often built on this chassis, a number of Ambulance bodies were built.	Bedford CA MkII Dormobile Ambulance	Bedford CA Dormobile Ambulance	Bedford KZ 1949 Ambulance. The Bedford K-type was introduced in 1939, but production only really started in 1945. The 'KZ' was a chassis offered to coachbuilders such as this Ambulance model.
Land-Rover Series IIA Ambulance. The Ambulance body is by Herbert Lomas who built ambulance bodies on a variety of vehicles.	Morris J2-M16 Ambulance 1964 The J2 was upgraded to J2-M16 when it received the 1622cc B-series engine in 1961	Morris LD Ambulance 1966. This vehicle was based at the Dunlop Tyre factory.
