Bristol 404 Coupe
Launched in 1953 the 404 moved away from its BMW ancestry with an all new aluminium on wood frame body on a shorter 96.3-inch wheelbase. Dudley Hobbs and Jim Lane designed the new body and took the Bristol away from its BMW roots. The 404 was christened the 'Businessman's Express' and was quite speedy, especially with the option of the 125bhp engine. The 404 was the first Bristol to have lift-up front wings with the offside compartment containing the battery and the nearside the spare wheel.
