BMW 328
BMW 328, which was launched in 1936 with a 1971cc 6-cylinder twin cam engine that was a development of the 1.5litre engine first fitted in the 315, 319 and 327. The 1971cc 6-cylinder engine was first introduced for the BMW 326 in 1936, and featured hemispherical combustion chambers and an overhead camshaft that operated the valves. It was rated at 50bhp. The 328 was announced later that year with an 80bhp version of this engine and proved very competitive in motorsports. The Bristol Aircraft Company got the rights to BMW cars in 1945 and started its own brand of cars.

BMW 328 1937. This sports body was commonly fitted to the BMW 328, but custom-built coachwork was also available, and in Britain Frazer-Nash BMW 328s could carry traditional English coachwork.

BMW 328 1937. Racing at Donnington, May 2012, the BMW 328 won its class in the 1939 Le Mans 24hour race, and won outright the 1940 Mille Miglia and the 1939 RAC Rally. Countless other victories were scored.
