Vanden Plas 1500 and 1750
When the Austin Allegro was launched in 1974 a Vanden Plas version (the 1500) was also produced and sold until 1980. The Vanden-Plas was a slow seller, but it is believed to have been profitable.

Vanden Plas 1500. British Leyland launched the Vanden-Plas version of the Allegro, calling it the '1500' rather than 'Allegro'. It was powered by the 1485cc E-series engine once given to the Austin Maxi.
