TVR S-series
The TVR S-series was TVR's first convertible and in essence was an open top M-series. Sharing the same chassis, engine and mechanics of the TVR 3000M, the TVR 3000S was developed from a privately made 3000M convertible. The production car had many new body panels, most obviously a boot, but there were also cut-down doors, and a purpose-designed windscreen to replace the Ford Consul screen. The TVR 3000S was only sold in 1978 and 1979 with a production of just 258. Confusingly a new S-series was launched in 1986 as the 280S or 2.8S with a Ford Cologne V6, and the 1989 290S was available from 1989 with 2.9 V6 Sierra engine. A Series 3 model with longer doors was offered from the middle of 1989. From 1992 to 1994 the S4 gained discs all round, but was really a last blow on this TVR trumpet as the new Griffith was already selling. A V8S model was also sold with 4.0 or 4.3-litre V8 engine and badged 'V8S'.

TVR S3 1990. There were several bonnet types at this time, the S3 was the last one having the bonnet scoop. One variation was a raising of the central pane accompanied by side-facing vents. S4 cars got under bonnet spotlamps. The V8S had a large domed bonnet which was actually given first to the supercharged 2-litre V8 sold in Italy.

TVR 3000S 1980. The TVR convertible was launched in 1978 based on the TVR 3000M, but with a distinct windscreen. Power came from the Ford Capri 3.0-litre Essex V6 in standard or turbocharged form. This original S-series is a distinct model from the later 1986 model.

TVR S2 1989. The convertible had been introduced as the 3000S in 1979, and in 1986 TVR introduced the S range (280S) to sell beneath other more sophisticated and more expensive models. The S2 was a different car from the S-series, as can be seen by comparing the yellow car to the white one.

TVR V8S 1991. The large bonnet hump identifies the V8S, although this bonnet was actually designed to house the supercharger fitted to Italian V6 models.

TVR V8S. The V8S was given a 4-litre 240bhp version of the Rover V8 engine which TVR continued to develop in their own way. TVR even developed a 2-litre supercharged version of the V8 engine to beat taxation bands in Italy.
