Talbot Sunbeam

Designed by Roy Axe , the Sunbeam was based on a shortened Avenger platform. Launched in 1977 with a 1-litre engine intended to replace the Hillman Imp, it was later fitted with 1.3 and 1.6 engines. Originally branded 'Chrysler Sunbeam', it was given the 'Talbot' brand when Peugeot took control of Chrysler Europe. In partnership with Lotus, it was fitted with a 2200cc Lotus engine in 1979 to become the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus.

The Sunbeam Ti was launched in 1979 as a 'boy racer' version of the little Sunbeam.	Talbot Lotus Sunbeam 1980. Launched at the Geneva Salon in 1979, the Lotus Sunbeam carried a 2172 cc version of Lotus 2-litre 16valve engine, and cars were assembled in Norfolk.	Talbot Lotus Sunbeam 1981. Even though the Sunbeam was slated for replacement (by the Horizon), it was restyled for 1981 with the corporate Talbot look.	Talbot Lotus Sunbeam 1981. The Sunbeam Lotus was based on the Sunbeam 1.6GLS, which was taken to Norfolk for Lotus engine and sporting suspension.
Talbot Sunbeam Ti. Essentially the Avenger Tiger mechanics in the Sunbeam bodyshell, the Sunbeam Ti was launched in 1979.	Talbot Sunbeam Ti. Stripped out, the car was popular with motor racers but was not a practical road car. Sold from 1979-81, the early cars were badged 'Chrysler' and the later ones 'Talbot'	Talbot Sunbeam Ti. The Chrysler Sunbeam was literally a 'hatchback' with a single panel lifting up to access the load area, in the same style as the outgoing Hillman Imp.	Chrysler / Talbot Horizon	Hillman Avenger
