SS 1

Swallow Sidecars took the next step from providing coachwork on the chassis of other manufacturers, to manufacturing their own car, the SS1 in 1932. In fact the SS1 was mostly a Standard Sixteen/Twenty underneath, using the chassis and mechanics of the large Standard. SS provided a variety of bodies for the SS1, and a variant was launched as the SS90 sports car (later SS 100). The model name 'Jaguar' rapidly became the brand name after WW2.

SS 1 2½litre 1933 - bumper badge	SS 1 2½litre 1933 - ornament	SS 1 2½litre 1933. A 2552cc 6-cylinder Standard engine tuned by SS (later 'Jaguar') powered this SS 1.	SS 1 2½litre 1933 Tourer. In 1932 the Swallow Sidecar company introduced its first car, the SS1. The car was based on an altered Standard chassis, and used the 2552cc 6-cylinder engine from the Standard 20.	SS 1 2½litre 1933	SS 1. Using a Standard Sixteen chassis and a Standard Twenty 2½litre engine, the SS 1 was the beginning of 'Jaguar' cars.
