Humber Sceptre MkI, MkII
Hillman launched its new Minx as the 'Super Minx' in 1961 marketed above the existing Minx Series III. In 1963 the Humber Sceptre model was launched based clearly on the Super Minx core, but having its own superstructure and glass and styled more closely to the Sunbeam Venezia special model. In fact, as the grille gives away, the Humber Sceptre almost became a 4-door Sunbeam, but at the last moment was re-branded as Humber. Powered by a tuned 1592cc engine, the Sceptre continued in production until the MkII was launched in 1965. A 1725cc engine, and a remodelled front using Hillman Super Minx parts defined the new Sceptre MkII which continued in production until 1967 when the new Arrows-based Sceptre MkIII was launched.
