Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud
John Blatchley did the design for the Bentley S-type and Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud in about one week after his first proposal was rejected as being too radical. This first design was worked up to be the Silver Shadow ten years later. The Silver Cloud used a longer chassis than the Silver Dawn, but the same 4887cc 6-cylinder engine until this was replaced by the 6230cc V8 for the Series II in 1959. In 1962 the Series III took over with a lower bonnet line, modified grille, and a quad headlamp arrangement. In 1965 the modern Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow replaced the Silver Cloud.
