Oldsmobile Super 88
The Oldsmobile Super 88 was launched in 1951 but based on the GM B-body, and in 1952 some of the design features of the Super 88 were given to the A-body 88. An all new body was introduced in 1954. In 1957 the 88 went onto a new GM B-body, and in 1958 this was given radically reworked front and rear sections and appeared to be an all new car. The Super 88 was given a new body after 1959, built on a 123-inch wheelbase for both the cheaper Dynamic 88 as well the the Super 88. The main difference between the two cars was the larger engine in the Super 88 and the extra trim. The Oldsmobile 98 took things further, built on a longer wheelbase with even more trim. For 1960 Oldsmobile restyled the front of the car and also flattened the rear wings and gave it new lamps. For 1961 a new chassis and a new body were given to the Oldsmobile 88 cars.
