Mercury Monterey 1959 - 1961
Mercury built its 1959 and 1960 Monterey and Montclair on 126-inch wheelbase, and 128-inch for the Park Lane. The style for 1959 was large rear wings and massive triangular tail lamps; both of these were tamed for the more discreet 1960 cars. However, for both years massive wraparound front and rear screens were featured, the front windscreen wrapped up into the roofline. Under the bonnet a 5,115cc (312) version of the Y-block Ford V8, now detuned for greater economy and lower grade fuel. The Monterey was offered in 2 and 4-door sedans, 2 and 4-door Cruiser hardtops, a convertible and some wagons.
