Jaguar Racing
Go to Jaguar Cars Jaguar evolved through competition from the SS 100, the XK cars and 5 Le Mans wins.

Jaguar XJ13 - badge. Jaguar racing cars always carried this red and white badge - more aerodynamic than an enamel badge.

Jaguar XJ13. This Jaguar XJ13 did not finish development because the Leyland merger brought new priorities. Regulations for Le Mans also changed and made the XJ13 no longer competitive. But in 1971 it was driven on track for a publicity video and crashed at speed; the car is an extensive rebuild of that prototype.
Jaguar D-Type. This is the 1954 D-Type, 55 cars had a longer nose for greater speed. The 6-cylinder XK engine was used in 3442 cc form. Cars had Discs brakes. Jaguar D-Type
Jaguar D-Type - interior. From 1954-57 The D-type carried the Jaguar name to victory at Le Mans in 1955, 56 and 57. Jaguar D-Type
Jaguar D-Type. Malcolm Sayer drew the D-Type and gave it a monocoque body which was designed for maximum speed on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans. Jaguar D-Type
Jaguar E-type 1962 lightweight The first Lightweights were roadsters fitted with a hardtop, which wasn't the most aerodynamic. For the 1964 Le Mans race Jaguar engineer Malcolm Sawyer developed a new coupe body designed by Dr. Samir Klat, specifically designed for the long straights. These 'Low Drag Coupes' featured a completely new rear end, and also a slightly revised nose. Lightweight E-Type
