Go to Jaguar Cars 'Xperimental Jaguar' is launched as the Jaguar XJ in 1968, a sole model to replace all other saloons.

 Jaguar XJ 4.2. Almost 60,000 Jaguar XJ cars were sold with the 4235cc 6 cylinder 170bhp development of the Jaguar XK engine
 Daimler Sovereign 4.2.  The Daimler version of the Jaguar XJ6 appeared in 1969 as the Daimler Sovereign 2.8litre or 4.2litre. Daimler Sovereign
 Daimler Double-Six Vanden-Plas.  The Daimler Double-Six had the 5343cc V12 rngine, and in Vanden Plas form was the most luxurious.  In North American markets it was sometimes badged 'Jaguar' instead of Daimler. Daimler Double-Six
 Daimler Sovereign 4.2.  The Jaguar 4235cc straight six engine was fitted in this Series I Daimler Sovereign. Daimler Sovereign
 Jaguar XJ 2.8litre. The MkI Jaguar XJ was available with 4.2 and 2.8 litre engines.  The 2.8litre engine was offered to beat European taxation bands, but it was not popular and also proved unreliable.
 Jaguar XJ 4.2.  Jaguar sold 59,000 XJ 4.2 cars from 1968 to 1973, and a further 574 long wheelbase versions.  There were also 2.8, V12 and Daimler versions
 Jaguar XJ 4.2.  The MkI Jaguar XJ was available with 2.8 and 4.2 litre engines, and in standard and from 1972  long wheelbase versions.  From 1969 there were Daimler Sovereign versions, and a V12 version was sold from 1972.  The MkII version was produced from 1973 and a 2-door XJC Coupe version was sold in limited numbers
 Jaguar XJC 4.2 Coupe.  Introduced in 1975, The Jaguar XJC Coupe was available with 4.2litre engine (6500 sold) or 5.3litre V12 (1800 sold)>  Some cars were delivered as Daimler Sovereigns Jaguar XJC Coupe
 Jaguar XJC 4.2 Coupe.  Based on the Series II XJ bodyshell, underneath was the shorter Series I platform.  From 1975 to 1978 6500 4.2litre XJC coupes were made and 1800 V12s. Jaguar XJC Coupe
 Daimler Double-Six VDP.  The Series III Jaguar XJ was launched in 1979, developed from the long wheelbase XJ and restyled by Pininfarina. Daimler Double-Six
 Daimler Double-Six Vanden Plas.  This is the DD6 model based on the Pininfarina-designed Series III Jaguar XJ Daimler Double-Six
 Daimler Sovereign 4.2.  This is the Daimler version of the Series I Jaguar XJ which was called Daimler Sovereign, but in 1983 the 'Sovereign' name was given to Jaguar cars. Daimler Sovereign

 Jaguar XJ 4.2.  The Jaguar XJ was a new model in 1968 which replaced the Mk2, 420, and 420G models.  It was available with 2.8litre and 4.2litre engines at launch.
 Jaguar XJC 4.2 Coupe.  First exhibited at the 1973 Motor Show, it was 1975 before sales began.  However, Sir William Lyons had made an XJC coupe from a Series I bodyshell in 1969, and this was tested extensively before being developed with the Series II body. Jaguar XJC Coupe
 Jaguar XJ 2.8litre. 4.2-litre cars had a '4.2 litre' badge on the offside boot panel
