Jaguar Mk X was launched as the biggest, and probably Britain's widest, car in 1961. The E-type 3.8 litre engine was fitted under the bonnet and independent rear suspension helped this large car handle.
The Jaguar Mk X had a unitary bodyshell replacing the Mk VII - IX model which had separate chassis. The 3.8litre Mk X was produced from 1961 to 1964 and 10,000 rolled out the factory before the 4.2litre version replaced it.
In 1966 the Jaguar Mk X was renamed the Jaguar 420G. With some revisions and its new name the biggest Jaguar continued in production until 1970.
