The Mk II 3.8 quickly established itself as the ultimate 'Q' car and found many friends on both sides of the law. No 60's bank job was complete without a 3.8 get-away-car and a pursuing Police 3.8!! The Mk II 3.8 also arrived just in time to enjoy Britains new unrestricted M1 motorway and proved to be quite happy cruising at over 100mph.
Daimler V8 250, the V8 engine had come when Jaguar acquired Daimler in 1960, and a decision was taken to build an upmarket version of the Mk2 2.4 using this V8 engine Daimler V8 250

Jaguar Mk2 was the new 'small' Jaguar introduced in 1959 and the 2.4 litre was the entry level model. The earlier 2.4 litre Jaguar has since been dubbed the 'Mk1'.

Jaguar Mk2 2.4litre may have had the smallest Mk2 engine, but it used the same twin cam, straight six XK engine as its larger brothers.
The Jaguar MkII 3.4litre was In the middle of the Mk2 range and was fitted with the 3442cc XK engine, as used in the previous 3.4 ('Mk1') Saloon.
The Jaguar MkII range was topped off by the 3.8litre. Fitted with the 3781cc XK engine, (220bhp, 125mph, 0-60 in 8.5 seconds). Production ran from 1959-67 and 30,000 were made
Jaguar 240 was the run-out model of the Mk II. Produced from 1967 to 1969 the 240 was cheaper and less expensive trim, 4430 were made. Jaguar 240
Jaguar S-type was introduced in 1963 as a luxurious model to supplement the Mk II range. Equipped with independent rear suspension and more comfort, the S-type could be specified with either 3.4litre or 3.8litre engine. Jaguar S-Type
The Jaguar S-type was built with a modified Mk II bodyshell having a new boot and a new front. Under the boot was a sophisticated independent rear suspension. Jaguar S-Type
Jaguar S-type was introduced in 1963, and it shared most of the mechanics and body of the MkII, but with revised front and rear panels and independent rear suspension. Available with the engines of the 3.4litre and 3.8litre MkII, the S-type versions were heavier and slower and were seen as less sporting and more luxurious. Jaguar S-Type

The Jaguar 240 (and its sister the 340) continued the Jaguar MkII line until the Jaguar XJ6 was fully established. Jaguar 240

As with the rest of the range the 3.4 received the better looking body revisions. The new car had slimmer window surrounds, a larger glass area, new front and rear lamps, a deeper grille and a revised interior. The interior was well appointed and standard equipment included leather upholstery, fold down picnic trays for rear passengers, a wood dash and door cappings.
Jaguar MkII 3.8 litre topped the Jaguar MkII range and sold 30,000 before it was dropped in ready for the new XJ6 in 1967
Jaguar 240 was given slimmer more elegant bumpers in order to 'modernise' it, but otherwise was mechanically the same as the Mk II 2.4litre Jaguar 240
Most buyers opted for the more powerful 3.8 version, although the 3.4 was by no means under-powered. The 3.4 could set quite a fast pace and although not as quick as the Mk II 3.4, the car handled extremely well thanks to its new suspension layout. Jaguar S-Type

Daimler Sovereign was the Daimler-badged version of the Jaguar 420, itself an evolution of the Jaguar S-type out of Jaguar MkII. The Sovereign (and 420) both got 4235cc engine from the larger MkX (now renamed '420G') and also got a bonnet similar to the larger car. Daimler Sovereign
