Humber Hawk and Super Snipe Estates
Rootes styled their own Hawk (and Super Snipe) models from 1957, though strongly influenced perhaps by some American designs they had seen. An Estate car version was soon available for both the Hawk and Super Snipe, and it is said that the rear end design of it was 'borrowed' from the 1955 Chevrolet Nomad. Mechanically the estate cars were built exactly the same as the Hawk or Super Snipe whose badge they carried. Humber contracted out the production of the estates to Carbodies of Coventry because sales were quite low. Restyles to the Hawk and Super Snipe were not applied to the estates excepting the Super Snipe which in 1963 was given the Series III quad lamp front; the 1964 restyle with new windows bypassed the estate models. Production ended in 1967.

Humber Super Snipe Series V Estate. It has been claimed that the design of the Hawk/Super Snipe estate is based on the Chevrolet Nomad estate, and the arrangement of the split tailgate and wraparound side windows is strongly reminscent. Humber gave the job of building the Hawk/Super Snipe estates to Carbodies of Coventry.
