Ford Popular 103E

The second Ford Popular was launched as a continuation of the Ford Anglia E494A sold as the Ford Popular 103E with the 1172cc engine. The Anglia specification was stripped down so that even a heater and a second windscreen wiper were extras. The savings were considerable and strong sales followed, especially because there was a shortage of secondhand cars. Production ended in 1959 when the new 100E-based Popular went on the market, and after 155,000 had been sold.

Ford 103E Popular. The E494A Anglia ceased production in 1953 when the 100E Anglia was launched, but it was then re-introduced as the 103E Popular. In the form of a Popular it was even more basic than the outgoing Anglia, with only a single wiper and no heater.

Ford 103E Popular. The 103E popular was bodily and mechanically identical to the E494A Anglia, but was more basic inside, saving the purchaser £100.
