Ford Cortina TF (MkV)
In 1979 Ford announced the 'Cortina 80' (Taunus TC3), sometimes known as the 'Cortina MkV', which retained all the mechanics again and reskinned the body. A different roofline enabled even bigger windows, but the estate cars retained the Taunus TC bodywork from the windscreen back. This was just a stop gap model until the all new Sierra in 1982. Mechanically all the engines, even the Kent 1300 and the Pinto 1600 and 2000 were retained along with the Cologne V6. In South Africa a pickup model was manufactured and imported to Britain as the P100. Production continued in Turkey from 1984 to 1994.

Ford Cortina 2000 1981 Ghia S. The 'S' pack was available on most Cortina 80 models, and although it had revised suspension and wheels, it was more of a styling pack than a performance pack. Ghia versions were available even on the estate models.

Ford Cortina 1600 1981 Estate. When Ford dropped the coke-bottle shape of the Cortina TC for the Cortina TE model, they brought across the rear of the Taunus TC estate car and fitted that to the front of the Cortina TE. The taller roof and bigger windows were not given to the TE. For the Cortina 80 (Cortina TF), the estate rear was carried over, with only the bonnet being upgraded
